Job summary

Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas, seeks a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily living activities and basic nursing care under the RN in charge. This full-time night-shift role is part of a community-focused hospital within Prime Healthcare Foundation.

Qualified candidates will have phlebotomy and EKG certification preferred, BLS current within 30 days of hire, and knowledge of medical terminology, with at least six months in acute care settings being preferred.

Qualifications

  • Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
  • Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
  • Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
  • Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), State approved Certification required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • The Patient Care Assistant assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.
