Job description

We are searching for a Patient Care Assistant— someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will perform a variety of routine and specialized patient care activities, as assigned, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Care will be delivered that incorporates Family Centered Care, is cost-effective, and developmentally appropriate for the patient population.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assist with the collection and documentation of patient/family data.
  2. Obtain and document vital signs (without continuous physiologic monitors) and notify the professional of abnormal findings.
  3. Provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care in collaboration with the RN and patient/family.
  4. Collaborate with multiple RNs to prioritize workload based on patient/family needs.
  5. Assist in identifying patient/family response to care provided.
  6. Provide input to the RN for developing and modifying the plan of care.
  7. Maintain accountability for personal development and participate in the development of others.
  8. Demonstrate commitment to teamwork, flexibility, professionalism, communication, and customer service skills.
  9. Participate in achieving hospital/unit goals.

All successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Skills & Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a formal nursing assistant educational program or certification (e.g., CNA, Medical Assistant, or similar).
  • Currently enrolled in a BSN degree program with one clinical rotation completed at hire.
  • One (1) year of direct patient care experience.
