Job summary

Visiting Angels Longview is hiring a Patient Care Aide (PCA) to support seniors in East Texas. You will assist with personal care, mobility, light housekeeping, meal prep, and medication reminders, while promoting independence and dignity in the home.

This role offers flexible shifts and opportunities to grow with the client team. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, reliable transportation, and strong communication skills to coordinate with families and healthcare

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Excellent time management and reliable transportation are essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients and families.
• Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks is preferred.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen.
• First Aid training or readiness to obtain it is expected.
• Empathy and a heart for supporting vulnerable seniors.

Responsibilities

• Help clients with personal care and hygiene tasks.
• Perform light housekeeping and homemaking activities.
• Encourage and assist with exercise and mobility goals.
• Ensure medications are prompted and taken on schedule.
• Assist with shopping and meals according to client preferences.
• Support mobility and accompany clients to appointments or walks.

A Visiting Angels Patient Care Aide - PCA wears many hats as they help our elderly and home-care clients stay at home or recover at home with dignity.

While no two client visits look exactly alike, responsibilities may include:

• Helping clients handle personal care and hygiene


• Managing light housekeeping


• Encouraging clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals


• Prompting clients to take their prescription medications at the right times


• Helping clients with shopping and putting away groceries (or shopping for them)


• Planning and preparing meals in collaboration with clients (based on client ability)


• Assisting clients with mobility and ambulation - this can include everything from getting around the house to visiting the doctor and taking walks

A Patient Care Aide - PCA must also be prepared to act quickly in the case of medical emergencies. This includes adequately reporting any health changes or unusual circumstances. Our caregivers possess the ideal blend of competency, compassion, and professional discernment.

Patient Care Aide - PCA Job Requirements
