SCOPE: Under general supervision, verify insurance and eligibility, assess patient financial requirements, counsel on benefits and co-pays, obtain pre-authorization, and maintain accurate demographics.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three years of medical business office experience with insurance procedures and patient interaction.
• Experience with insurance verification and pre-authorization preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and enter accurate insurance, demographic, and eligibility information.
• Perform insurance verification on all third-party payers and obtain pre-authorization.
• Re-verify benefits and obtain authorization after treatment plan is discussed.
• Provide financial counseling on patient obligations and payment plans.
• Assist patients in obtaining financial assistance and community resources.
• Collect co-pays and ensure proper documentation and compliance.
• Maintain manuals, logs, and protect patient confidentiality.
