Location: UHealth Tower

The Patient Benefits Advisor 2 ensures that patients have adequate insurance coverage for services received and advises patients when there are any gaps in coverage so that appropriate payment arrangements can be made.

Core Job Functions:
  1. Greet every individual on the phone or in person with a smile and a professional greeting.
  2. Coordinate with scheduling departments to schedule patient appointments when prior authorizations are not obtained or denied.
  3. Assist departments with inquiries into account status, pre-certification, eligibility, financial estimates, and policies.
  4. Ensure all patient information is secure and paperwork is disposed of appropriately to maintain confidentiality.
  5. Obtain and document prior authorizations before services; contact physician offices for missing patient information.
  6. Use patient estimate tools and insurance contacts to obtain accurate out-of-pocket estimates, document these, and generate estimate letters.
  7. Update patient accounts with correct insurance information as needed.
  8. Submit insurance referral documentation promptly.
  9. Adhere to university and departmental policies and safeguard assets.
