Overview

The primary responsibility of the Patient Administrative Specialist is to handle new patient coordination, surgery scheduling, and other front office functions in the outpatient clinical setting. The role supports administrative tasks related to daily clinic operations.

Responsibilities
  • Primary Function: Perform proficiency level I skills such as entry, front desk check-in/out, and specialized functions including master scheduling, new patient coordination, authorization coordination, surgery/procedure scheduling, and data collection.
  • Level I Duties: Greet and assist patients, answer multi-line phones, communicate with providers, manage administrative tasks, and utilize electronic medical records systems.
  • Proficiency In: Collaborate with care teams, ensure proper verifications, assist with scheduling tests and treatments, and verify patient eligibility and payments.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience: 1+ years in healthcare or 2+ years in customer service within non-healthcare industries
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, computer systems, and Windows-based software
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work under stress, organize, and prioritize tasks
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
  • Sitting, walking, standing, occasional bending, reaching, and lifting up to 10 lbs
