Patient Accounts Customer Services Representative I

Job Description: Represents the system professionally, providing excellent customer service. Handles calls in a call center environment to assist with requests, concerns, and inquiries. Responsible for processing payments, establishing payment plans, updating insurance information, and maintaining patient accounts. Performs account follow-up, inquiry responses, problem resolution, and interacts with patients, authorized representatives, and insurance companies to ensure payment compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate collection and entry of financial and biographical data, adhering to HIPAA and privacy standards.
  • Complete billing processes, including recording data, investigating charges, updating information, and preparing claims.
  • Coordinate with departments for precertification, preauthorization, and referrals related to managed care.
  • Take corrective actions such as follow-up, rebilling, and adjustments as needed.
  • Answer inquiries regarding patient accounts and explain charges, services, and policies.
  • Resolve billing issues and update insurance information.
  • Process and distribute billing copies and handle electronic payments.
