Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Patient Account Registrar (PAR), internally referred to as our Patient Registration Representative or Patient Access Representative, in the Admitting Department. The Patient Account Registrar (PAR) interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain patient demographics.

Shift’s Available: variable

Employment Type: per diem/PRN

Hours: 8 hour shift

Location: Saint John Hospital, Leavenworth, KS

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • interview the patient or his/her representative to obtain patient demographics
  • secure insurance information, eligibility, benefits and authorizations as applicable
  • work closely with all facets of the Admitting Department, including PBX operator function and reception areas
  • must be able to operate a computer to input and retrieve data
  • able to communicate with the population served utilizing age specific techniques from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adult to geriatrics
  • maintain proficiency in medical terminology
  • special projects or other assignments may be given with expectations to be completed in a specified timeframe
  • we are looking for a person with a positive attitude who has compassion and empathy for others
  • willingness to learn and be ambitious and successful in your role
Qualifications

Education and Training

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • high school graduate or GED equivalent
  • effective written and verbal communication skills
  • ability to multi-task and prioritize needs to meet required timelines
  • analytical and problem-solving skills
  • customer service experience
  • must be able to type
