Job summary

Livingston HealthCare is seeking a hospital billing associate to ensure timely and accurate submission of insurance claims. You will coordinate billing processes and payer edits while supporting the supervisor with system updates and daily claim processing.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of medical billing experience, strong attention to detail, and solid skills in Word and Excel. A proactive, customer-service oriented approach is essential in this role.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum two years medical billing experience.
  • Two years computer experience including Word and Excel.
  • Accurate, detail oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Able to analyze problems and provide solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Review and check final bills for accuracy per payer requirements.
  • Understand payer edits and update claims accordingly.
  • Apply UB/1500 coding rules: condition codes, value codes, occurrence codes, status codes.
  • Assist with system updates and payer bulletins as directed.
  • Process daily claims in queues and clearinghouse for electronic submission.
  • Prepare required reports and timely adjustments for approval.
  • Prepare refunds when needed with supervisor approval.
  • Enter notes in OS documenting claim status and transactions.
  • Provide courteous customer service to patients and staff.
  • Cross-train in other hospital areas as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.

Responsible for the timely and accurate submission of Insurance claims Coordinate billing procedures and working payer edits in conjunction with updated Payer requirements and guidelines Schedule 08 FTE 32 hoursMon Fri800am 430pmCompensation 2382hr DOERobust Benefits Package

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Review and check final bills for accuracy according to specific Payer billing requirementsUnderstand payer edits and update claims appropriatelyUnderstand UB and 1500 billing to apply condition codes value codes occurrence codes and patient status codes as required to assure compliant billing to payersReceive communicate and assist Supervisor with the implementation of system updates as directed by Payer bulletins and notificationsProcess claims daily in the system work queues and Payer clearinghouse for electronic claims processingResearch prepares and provides all required reportsPrepares and submits timely adjustments for Managers approvalPrepares timely refunds for Managers approvalKnowledge of the medical coding processes including CPT ICD10 and revenue codes are helpfulResponsible for entering in operating system detailed notes indicating the current claim status and documentation of all transactions on assigned accountsResponsible for being courteous and polite to patients their agents coworkers and other hospital staff at all times whether on the telephone or in personProvide quality customer service both internally and externallyTo be cross trained in other areas of the hospital as necessaryPerform other duties as assigned by Manager

QUALIFICATIONS
