Position Summary

The Patient Access Technician (PAT) is an exciting opportunity at MultiCare, responsible for welcoming patients at one of our Off-Campus Emergency Departments. This position works closely with both financial and clinical teams and will offer you the space to create the optimum patient experience.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to organization policy, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Obtain inpatient bed assignments and process inpatient admissions, including arm banding, addressograph plate, and completion of necessary forms.
  • Pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory patients to facilitate smooth admissions/registrations.
  • Obtain direct admit information and enter reservations in the computer system to notify relevant departments.
  • Conduct comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews to gather demographic, insurance, and third-party liability information.
  • Perform eligibility verification, resolve discrepancies, and determine the need for financial assistance, referring to the Financial Counselor when necessary.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a health vocational program such as patient access, medical assistance, medical billing and insurance, or general medical programs.
  • One year of admitting, billing, registration, or customer service experience may substitute for educational requirements.

Pay and Benefits

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental, retirement benefits, and paid time off. The pay range is $23.92 - $36.39 USD, influenced by skills, experience, certifications, and education. If unionized, pay will reflect the appropriate step on the pay scale based on experience.
