Job Description
The Supervisor of Patient Access oversees the daily registration functions within Patient Access's scope of work. Ensures the operational unit is staffed appropriately. Promotes a positive patient experience for patients and families. Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills when interacting with staff, patients, families, and leadership. Supervises efficient and compliant registration processes, ensuring regulatory and compliance requirements are met, including adherence to departmental and institutional protocols. Prioritizes responsibilities to complete daily work requirements, resolves departmental and patient problems as needed, and monitors key performance metrics to ensure goals are achieved.
The Supervisor will also:
Education:
Associate's degree in healthcare or business administration required, or a minimum of 5 years relevant healthcare experience if lacking a degree. Bachelor's degree and HFMA certifications preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of patient registration experience and 3 years of supervisory experience in healthcare settings.
Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office, and familiar with healthcare EHR systems like EPIC and Cerner.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Knowledge of insurance coverage, authorizations/referrals, and coverage requirements.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, quality assurance, and critical thinking skills.
