  • This position pays between $16.50 - $17.65 based on experience

This position is an onsite role, and candidates must be able to work on-site at Anderson Mercy Health.
The Role:

The Patient Access Specialist is responsible for performing admission duties for all patients admitted for services at the hospital, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. They will work within organizational policies and processes across the organization.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assigning accurate MRNs, completing medical necessity/compliance checks, providing patient instructions, collecting insurance info, processing physician orders, and utilizing overlay tools while providing excellent customer service as measured by Press Ganey.
  • Operating the telephone switchboard for communication needs.
  • Adhering to policies and providing compassionate customer interactions.
  • Meeting point of service goals as assigned.
  • Pre-registration of patient accounts, including calling to obtain demographic and insurance information, and collecting point of service payments and past due balances.
  • Explaining and obtaining signatures on consent and other patient education forms.
  • Reviewing insurance eligibility and entering benefit data to support billing and claims accuracy.
  • Screening medical necessity using ABN software and distributing related forms.
  • Conducting audits to ensure form completion and account accuracy, providing reports to leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • CRCR Certification (Company Paid) within 6 months of hire
Preferred Experience:
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
