We are seeking a Patient Access Specialist for our Phone Room in Martinsburg, WV. Under the supervision of the Patient Access Manager, this role involves answering and directing calls professionally, managing urgent situations, and supporting patient contact, scheduling, clerical, and business functions.

Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming calls courteously and professionally.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage provider schedules.
  • Update Electronic Health Records (EHR) as needed.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines.
  • Provide referral information.
  • Enter refill requests and handle Patient Portal requests.
  • Assist with Well Child and Annual GYN reports to maintain schedules and preventive care reminders.
  • Record call service messages and return patient calls with provider information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Good listening and communication skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Office skills including word processing, data entry, and recordkeeping.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Courteous and professional demeanor with patients, colleagues, and community contacts.
  • Healthcare system knowledge is preferred.
  • Ability to handle a multi-line phone system.
  • Friendly, patient, and compassionate attitude, even in challenging situations.
