Patient Access Specialist Responsibilities

The Patient Access Specialist handles all inpatient and outpatient access functions within the Patient Access Services Department at Hackensack Meridian Health. Responsibilities include:

  1. Conducting quality interviews with patients to ensure compliance with safety, legal, and regulatory standards.
  2. Gathering and verifying patient identification and demographic information.
  3. Screening Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care patients to assess network status and benefits coordination.
  4. Obtaining necessary patient consents and attestations.
  5. Performing scheduling, bed planning, pre-registration, registration, insurance verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance under supervision.
  6. Maintaining adherence to quality standards and ensuring a positive patient experience.
