Responsibilities
  • The Patient Access Specialist I will answer and process all telephone calls at the console; monitor alarms, security systems, and execute disaster and emergency protocols; update manuals, call lists, and directories; and train new personnel.
  • Make decisions concerning notification of administrative personnel, staff, and employees in response to situations related to health, safety, and business interests of the hospital.
  • Complete patient registration at bedside and/or registration areas, ensuring departmental policies and procedures are followed.
  • Interact with patients, families, physicians, nurses, managers, and staff; handle confidential patient information.
  • Perform all work aligned with the mission, vision, and values of Oklahoma Heart Hospital.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of clerical experience, preferably in a medical setting. PBX experience preferred.
  • Working Knowledge: Windows-based operating systems preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Medical terminology and insurance knowledge are a plus.
