This position is an onsite role at Mercy - The Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, OH

Schedule
  • Full Time 5am-1:30pm (weekend/holiday rotation)

Role Summary

We are searching for the next Patient Access Specialist champion. This is an exciting role that is not a desk job, as you will walk from room to room and push a 10-pound mobile computer station throughout the entire shift.

This role is responsible for performing admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at the hospital and for meeting the organization\'s mission, goals, and regulatory compliance requirements. The Representative will work within policy and process standards across the organization.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assign accurate MRNs, complete medical necessity/compliance checks, provide patient instructions, collect insurance information, receive and process physician orders, and utilize an overlay tool while delivering customer service measured by Press Ganey.
  • Operate the telephone switchboard to relay calls as applicable.
  • Adhere to policies and provide excellent customer service with appropriate compassion.
  • Meet point of service goals as assigned.
  • Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
  • Pre-register patient accounts prior to visits, including inbound/outbound calls to obtain demographics, insurance, and financial information, including point-of-service collections and past due balances with payment plan options.
  • Explain general consent for treatment forms, obtain signatures, and distribute patient education documents and forms as required.
  • Review eligibility responses in the insurance verification system and support POS and billing processes to assist with a clean claim rate.
  • Screen medical necessity using the ABN software for Medicare patients and distribute ABNs and related forms as appropriate.
Experience and Education
  • Experience: 1+ years of customer service experience.
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED Required.
  • Certifications: CRCR Required within 6 months of hire (Company Paid).
