Job Summary

The Patient Access Services Coordinator, Rehab, is responsible for scheduling and registering Rehabilitation Services patients at all Cooley Dickinson Rehab locations. Responsibilities include obtaining all pre-certifications and referrals, collecting co-payments, reconciling transactions, patient reception, answering phones, managing Medical Records, resolving admission, billing, or other account issues, and maintaining department records and statistics.

This position reports to the Manager, Central Scheduling, and operates within established policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One to three years of administrative and customer service experience required
  • Rehab office coordinator, front desk, and patient access experience preferred
  • Knowledge of hospital admissions, patient account systems, and insurance coverage preferred; cashiering experience preferred
  • Proficiency in typing, personal computers, and CRT required
  • Tempus One Scheduler and medical terminology knowledge preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required
Additional Job Details
Essential Job Functions:
  • Interview patients or representatives to collect necessary information and obtain signatures on forms
  • Collaborate with the Rehab Services Team to meet departmental goals
  • Register patients via hospital computer system and enter orders/charges
  • Schedule appointments, receive referrals, and update systems and stakeholders
  • Coordinate with patients and doctors’ offices to gather accurate data and ensure proper billing and authorizations
  • Verify insurance benefits, obtain authorizations, and update systems accordingly
  • Communicate with patients about insurance and billing issues, and address concerns
  • Transmit information to relevant departments, manage calls, and maintain confidentiality
  • Maintain supplies, cross-train, and work at satellite locations as needed
  • Adhere to hospital policies, participate in professional development, and attend meetings
