Job summary

CHI Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Access Scheduler to join our hospital-based services team in Roseburg, Oregon. You will manage inbound calls and fax requests, schedule patients, pre-register patients, and ensure required provider orders, referrals, and insurance information are documented accurately.

Ideal candidates have scheduling experience, attention to detail, and a friendly, clear phone manner. Prior hospital experience and knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 codes are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in a hospital environment with medical terminology and CPT/ICD-9 codes.
• Excellent scheduling and phone communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurately schedules patient appointments for hospital-based services.
• Performs pre-registration by collecting demographic, clinical, and insurance information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and identifies authorization or referral requirements.

As our Patient Access Scheduler, you will schedule patients for hospital-based services. Every day you will handle inbound calls and fax requests, make outbound calls to schedule patients, pre-register scheduled patients, and make sure required provider orders, referrals, and insurance requirements are obtained and documented accurately. To be successful in this role, you will bring scheduling experience, attention to detail, and a clear, friendly phone manner.

• Accurately schedules patient appointments, exams, and visits in a timely and professional manner.
• Performs pre-registration by obtaining complete and accurate patient demographic, clinical, and insurance information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and identifies authorization or referral requirements as applicable to scheduling.
• Provides patients with instructions related to scheduled services, including appointment details, preparation requirements, and required documentation.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in a hospital environment, medical terminology, knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 codes

Preferred

• One (1) year previous patient scheduling or patient access experience

Pay Range

$18.96 - $26.78 /hour
