The Patient Access Representative is responsible for patient reception, verifying insurance information, and maintaining accurate records. The role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Physical and Mental Demands

Medium physical demand level. Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods. Lift up to 40 pounds, push a wheelchair up to 250 pounds, and assist patients as needed. Good hearing and legible handwriting required.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Perform patient and visitor reception, directing them appropriately.
  2. Verify insurance and billing information accurately.
  3. Audit charts for completeness and accuracy, and follow up as needed.
  4. Prepare paperwork for patient care promptly.
  5. Maintain accuracy above 95%.
  6. Report equipment issues and coordinate repairs.
  7. Collaborate with clinical departments and physician offices.
  8. Attend meetings and support division initiatives.
  9. Train and orient new staff.
  10. Communicate effectively in person and on the phone.
  11. Handle stress, make decisions, and support organizational policies.
  12. Maintain competency and demonstrate alignment with organizational values.
  13. Be aware of age-specific, cultural, and physical needs of patients.
