Job summary

UMC Health System is seeking a Patient Access Representative to handle patient registrations for admissions and procedures, ensuring eligibility and accurate documentation. The role reports to the Manager of the assigned department and requires excellent customer service and clear English communication.

Responsibilities include scheduling exams, verifying insurances, collecting payments, and coordinating multiple modalities.

Qualifications

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospital front-desk environment.
  • Strong planning, organizational skills and process follow-through.
  • Basic medical terminology knowledge is a plus.

Job Summary MEDICAL EXPERIENCE NEEDED

Patient Access Representative is responsible completing the registration process for admissions and ensuring inpatient and outpatient procedures are eligible and documented accurately.

Reports to: Manager, assigned department

Job Specific Responsibilities

Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:

  • Collects all pertinent information to register patients for exams or test
  • Schedule exams/ Coordinate multiple modalities schedules
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Collect payments, establish payment arrangements, discuss payment options
  • All other assigned duties related to Environmental Services
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • +1 year as a patient access representative, customer service rep, or similar administrative role
Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations

N/A

Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent customer service skills; Must speak, read, and write English fluently
  • Ability to multi- task, handle problems, interruptions, and other stressful situations in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrate planning, organizational and ability to follow-through until a process is complete.
  • Basic medical terminology is a plus
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships

Interacts with all visitors to the department which may be patients, family members or staff from other departments within UMC or TTUHSC.

Physical Capabilities

Should be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Work requires frequent sitting and walking. Stressful atmosphere at times with many emotional demands. Must possess near visual acuity to read documents and computer records.
