Position Summary

The Patient Access Representative serves as the patient's first impression of OrthoNebraska. We are looking for an individual who can provide top-notch service in a fast-paced environment and exceed the expectations of our patients. Primary responsibilities include accurate entry of patient information into the chart, insurance verification, scheduling future appointments, and collecting upfront payments.

  • Status: Casual/PRN
  • Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts from 7p to 7a
  • FTE / Hours: 0 / As Needed
Position Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Licensure: N/A
  • Certification: N/A
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of customer service-related experience, required
    • 2+ years prior healthcare experience, preferred
    • 2+ years experience working in a fast-paced environment, preferred
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Understanding the revenue cycle is preferred
  • Proficient with Electronic Medical Records and computer software programs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including welcoming personality, customer service focus, empathy, professionalism, teamwork, strong communication, critical thinking, adaptability, and flexibility
Essential Job Functions
  • Provide exceptional customer service, prioritizing patient needs
  • Utilize multiple computer software programs simultaneously
  • Pre-register patient charts prior to service
  • Verify insurance eligibility
  • Collect copayments and patient balances professionally
  • Accurately enter patient demographic and insurance information
  • Check in patients efficiently and personally
  • Schedule appointments with patient convenience in mind
  • Leave a positive impression that differentiates OrthoNebraska
  • Assist patients with wayfinding and paperwork as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect patient rights
  • Attend and participate in team meetings, possibly outside regular hours
  • Comply with safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, The Joint Commission)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements

This position is classified as Sedentary Work, involving sitting most of the time, with occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, and brief periods of walking or standing.

Must pass background check, pre-employment physical, and drug testing. Employment contingent upon successful completion of these requirements and obtaining necessary licensures.
