Sanford Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative to be the first point of contact for patients checking in for Imaging appointments. You will schedule patients daily for imaging exams and provide prep instructions, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment in person or on the phone.

As part of the Patient Access team, you will deliver extraordinary customer service, manage registration tasks, coordinate referrals, and assist with financial responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • 1 year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
  • Medical terminology helpful; customer service skills essential.
  • Six months' customer service experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and verify demographics.
  • Create, scan, and route documents or electronic forms.
  • Inform patients what the document is and capture signatures.
  • Establish and assign financial responsibility and assist with arrangements.
  • Collect co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on account balances.
  • May address registration errors or denied insurance claims.
  • Coordinate & schedule appointments with nursing team and providers.
  • Obtain and coordinate referrals and pre-authorizations.
  • Arrange interpreter services and check patients in/out.
  • Operate multi-line phone and manage recall or waitlists.
  • Serve as switchboard operator calling codes and paging providers.
  • Prepare and coordinate charts and supporting provider documents.
  • Initiate and collaborate on patient financial assistance.
  • Track patient visits and health information management on accounts.
  • Coordinate Telemed appointments and reminder calls.

Job Description
REGISTRATION
  • Greet patients & verifies demographics

  • Collects co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on account balances
  • May work through the registration work queue to address and resolve registration errors or denied insurance claims
SCHEDULING
  • Work with nursing team & providers to coordinate & schedule appointments to meet patient’s needs, coordinate provider schedule
  • Obtain and coordinate referrals & conduct pre-authorization
  • Arrange interpreter services
  • Check patients in/out
  • Operate multi-line phone
  • May resolve work queue issues, manage recall and waitlists, & serve as switchboard operator calling codes and paging providers
ADDITIONAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE
  • Preparation & coordination of charts
  • Organize supporting provider documents
  • Initiation & collaboration of patient financial assistance
  • Track patient visits & health information management on patient accounts
  • Compile, distribute, administer, and score assessments
  • Coordination of Telemed appointments
  • Reminder calls for appointments
  • Hospital admission
  • Office duties, such as make copies or send faxes
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Post-secondary education helpful.
  • One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
  • Medical terminology helpful; customer service skills essential.
  • Six months' customer service experience desired.
  • May require BLS for certain locations and/or settings.
