Job Description - Patient Access Representative II Cardiology Part Time Days (2506001277)

Overview:
DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital in Oakland County is dedicated to exceptional customer service and medical care. The hospital features private birthing suites at the Harris Birthing Center, the Charach Cancer Treatment Center (affiliated with the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center), cardiac services, and comprehensive inpatient and outpatient diagnostic care. It ranks among the top hospitals nationally for emergency services, obstetrics, and ambulatory surgery.

Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, serves as a resource to Patient Access Representative I. Provides training, orientation, and input on departmental policies and procedures. Resolves complex eligibility and insurance verification issues by liaising with patients, agencies, hospital departments, and third-party payers. Assists with financial counseling to help patients identify and secure payment sources. Verifies insurance coverage, benefits, authorizations, and referrals, and calculates patient liabilities. Ensures accurate billing, compliance with third-party requirements, and proper registration and scheduling of patients. Explains forms and procedures to patients, collects necessary signatures, and assists with completing applications and payment arrangements. Coordinates test and service scheduling, develops patient relationships, and handles billing inquiries. Performs duties of Lead when requested and participates in special projects.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma; associate degree preferred.
  • Two to three years of experience in patient access, hospital registration, or related fields.
  • Advanced knowledge of third-party payer requirements, reimbursements, and collections.
