Overview

Creates accurate and thorough registration for each patient visit. Responsible for obtaining demographic and financial information, as well as signatures required for successful and compliant billing submission. Collects patient liability before or at the time of service as defined by the patient's insurance plan. Interacts in a customer-focused and compassionate manner to ensure patient's needs are met.

Responsibilities
  1. Registration and Data Integrity
  2. Engage with patient/legal representative to obtain and input accurate demographic and insurance data to ensure accuracy.
  3. Consistently schedule, register, and obtain signatures in accordance with compliance regulations.
  4. Collect accurate, complete, and compliant data from patient and/or guarantor. Follow all policies and procedures related to optimal financial performance.
  5. Utilize tools such as real-time eligibility responses, online resources, phone, or fax to verify eligibility and ensure accuracy.
  6. Understand and communicate patient benefit information and follow collection guidelines.
  7. Understand and execute downtime procedures to ensure data integrity.
  8. Customer Service
  9. Demonstrate UnityPoint’s FOCUS Values in all actions and interactions.
  10. Consistently use AIDET and no point policy in all interactions.
  11. Greet all patients and visitors with quality customer service and professionalism to ensure an exceptional patient experience.
  12. Answer telephone calls clearly, calmly, and professionally; screen calls by urgency and route calls promptly, accurately, and professionally to appropriate team member or department.
  13. Anticipate business needs to assist coworkers and adapt to staff coverage in any registration area or site.
  14. Financial Services/Billing
  15. Understand basic self-pay or underinsured patient policies to refer to the appropriate teams for resolution.
  16. Ensure accuracy of data collection by resolving registration errors as assigned by work queues.
  17. Understand requirements for authorization and medical necessity.
  18. Use standardized tools to identify missed information and secure proper documentation.
  19. Ensure financial integrity of the billing system with accurate reconciliation for point-of-service collections and cash drawer balancing.
  20. Utilize estimate tools within EPIC to accurately present financial liability.
  21. Professionally process the collection of financial liability and facilitate payment arrangements.
  22. Collaboration and Teamwork
  23. Support and contribute to department goals by attending meetings and participating in performance improvement activities.
  24. Assist new hires in training processes.
  25. Demonstrate teamwork by collaborating, supporting team decisions, and maintaining accountability.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $16.98 per hour - $27.51 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate at the time of posting.
