Patient Access Representative - Eye Institute Los Angeles Clinic - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Union)

Keck Medicine of USC is seeking a Patient Access Representative to assist patients with check-in, registration, scheduling, and administrative tasks at the Eye Institute in Los Angeles, California. The role involves working closely with physicians to coordinate new patient schedules, gather medical records, verify insurance, and ensure a smooth patient flow.

Essential Duties include:

  1. Greeting patients, performing check-in/out, verifying insurance, collecting payments, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records.
  2. Providing excellent customer service and maintaining confidentiality.
  3. Handling administrative duties such as insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and patient follow-up.
  4. Responding to patient inquiries and resolving issues related to billing, appointments, and records.
  5. Supporting clinic operations and maintaining a neat, organized front office environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye care.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a medical admission setting or ophthalmology practice.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and insurance processes.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) within 30 days of hire.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $21.00 to $33.15, depending on experience and qualifications.
