Job summary

Centerpoint Health - Georgetown is seeking a Patient Access Representative for ER registration in Georgetown, KY. The role collects patient demographics, insurance details, and financial information to expedite the admitting process and ensure a positive first impression of the facility.

Responsibilities include verifying benefits, obtaining authorizations, collecting co-pays, and guiding patients through necessary forms.

Qualifications

• Critical thinking and decisive judgment are required.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems.
• Effective English communication (read, write, speak, understand).
• Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.

• Distribute and explain forms and educational handouts to patients and families.
• Verify insurance benefits and obtain precertification/authorization as necessary.
• Collect co-pays/deductibles at the point of service or refer to financial counseling as appropriate.
• Communicate professionally in person and by phone with patients and families.
• Protect patient privacy and confidentiality in all activities.
• Participate in performance improvement and required education.
• Work alternate shifts/areas as needed to support department operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for

The Patient Access Representative collects patient demographic, insurance, and financial information for outpatient services and inpatient admissions. Verifies benefits, obtains authorizations as needed, and collects co-pays/deductibles at the point of service to efficiently expedite the admitting process. Provides a positive first impression of the facility. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department. This role is for ER Registration

How you'll contribute

• Ensure all required demographic, billing, and clinical data are obtained and accurately entered into the registration system in a timely manner.
• Distribute and explain forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients and families.
• Verify insurance benefits and obtain precertification/authorization as necessary.
• Determine and accepts required payments (e.g., co-pays, deductibles) or refers to financial counseling as appropriate.
• Communicate professionally in-person and by phone; provides clear instructions and excellent customer service.
• Protect patient privacy and confidentiality in all registration activities.
• Participate in performance improvement and required education.
• Work alternate shifts/areas as needed to support department operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education: High School diploma preferred.
• Skills:
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule: PRN - As Needed. Possible rotation between outpatient lobby and ER registration. All shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
