The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment. Strong attention to detail and effective problem-solving abilities are also critical to succeed in this role.

Preferred: Experience in a wound care, outpatient specialty, or hospital-based clinic environment. Being bilingual in Spanish and English is also considered a plus. Associate degree or healthcare certification is preferred.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

Medium physical demand level capabilities required. Must be able to accommodate fast, efficient pace. Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and push a wheelchair up to 250 pounds. Assist a patient in and out of a chair, wheelchair, or from an automobile and be able to ride in an elevator. with Good hearing and legible handwriting. Must be able to use computer and phone systems frequently throughout the day.

Essential Job Functions

  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly, professional manner
  • Perform patient check-in and check-out procedures
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls; assist callers with inquiries, provide appropriate information, and take accurate messages as needed
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments
  • Conduct pre-registration workflows, including collecting and verifying patient demographics, insurance information, and required documentation prior to the visit
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Obtain and document required referrals and prior authorizations
  • Update and maintain accurate patient demographic and insurance information in the electronic health record (EHR) system
  • Maintain a minimum of 95% accuracy in registration, data entry, insurance verification, and documentation processes
  • Maintain close working relationships with clinical teams, administrative departments, and referring offices to support coordinated patient care and streamlined communication
  • Communicate effectively with clinical staff to ensure proper patient flow and care coordination
  • Respond to patient inquiries via phone, email, or in person with professionalism and empathy
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scanning, faxing, and filing
  • Adhere to the Sky Lakes Medical Center mission, vision, and values in all interactions and duties
