Job summary

Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, IA, is seeking a patient access representative to register patients, schedule appointments, answer calls, and collect patient payments in a hospital setting.

High school diploma or equivalent is required with 1 year of patient access experience preferred. Familiarity with medical insurance and terminology is expected; EPIC experience is a plus. Notary Public training will be provided as part of the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year experience in patient access functions preferred.
• Hospital or clinic environment experience preferred.
• Notary Public training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and schedule appointments.
• Answer incoming calls and collect patient financial liability payments.

Description

• Full-time position (80 hours/2-week pay period)
• Mon - Fri.; day position, shift starts at 5:15a, 6:45a, 7a or 1:30p, rotating weekends
• Critical thinking skills, organized and a positive attitude
• Strong team-player
• Provides support with daily activities of hospital business office
• Register patients, schedule appointments, answer in-coming calls and collect patient financial liability payments
• Familiar with medical insurance
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred
• Notary Public, will train
• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of one (1) year experience of patient access functions working within a hospital or clinic environment preferred
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary in dealing with peers, internal and external customers
• Strong clerical and computer skills
• EPIC experience a plus, or other Employee Medical Record System
• Required: Proficiencywith Microsoft Office, Computer skills
