Job description

Job Summary Responsible and accountable for performing front line support to the clinic and direct patient care activities, depending on the needs of the clinic. Coordinates and performs front line office activities in an effective and efficient manner for the department. Greets and registers incoming patients, supports the patient check-out process, and schedules future appointments as applicable.

Job Duties
  1. Provides patient care as directed by the licensed nurse, within the medical assistant scope of practice, in meeting the multidisciplinary care plan established for each patient.
  2. Assists provider in setting up for minor procedures, gathering supplies and equipment, applying aseptic dressings, opening supplies, etc.
  3. Obtains and documents patient information accurately using the rooming tool within the electronic medical record.
  4. Reinforces patient instructions to enhance understanding and adherence to treatment and care plans.
  5. Collects and prepares lab specimens, completing associated paperwork and documentation to expedite laboratory studies with accuracy.
  6. Reports patient concerns and questions to the appropriate care team member and follows through as directed.
  7. Reports safety incidents or issues, complaints, serious events, and hazards immediately to the supervisor.
  8. May access non-controlled medication storage and transport medications as necessary to meet clinic needs.
  9. Inventories and orders supplies based on established levels, checks for expired items, and maintains stock.
  10. Cleans equipment and inspects condition and operation, preparing exam rooms between patients.
  11. Performs high-level disinfection or sterilization per policy and procedure.
  12. Performs duties of Patient Access Representative, including checking in patients and verifying demographics accurately.
  13. Ensures check-in procedures are completed, monitors wait times, and assists with referrals and pre-certifications.
  14. Reads and interprets insurance responses, understanding guidelines to assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance.
  15. Communicates with patients regarding disclosures, signatures, and financial responsibilities, collecting copays, deductibles, or coinsurances.
  16. Schedules follow-up appointments including specialty or ancillary services.
  17. Processes messages related to patient and physician requests, such as appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The role involves satisfying all job-specific obligations and complying with organizational policies. Position Details

This position qualifies for a $1,500 sign-on bonus paid over one year. Certain stipulations do apply.

Hours:

Days/Shifts - 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (standard rotation)

Weekends:

None
