Job Description

The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating patient flow, ensuring timely processing, maintaining knowledge and deployment of practices used within the department, physician practice, or hospital to address patient questions or concerns. They will maintain knowledge of insurance requirements, Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF) pricing, financial assistance options, and overall BHSF Revenue Cycle operations. The role includes supporting go-lives and departmental initiatives, onboarding and training team members, and participating in departmental committees or champion opportunities. The practice involves delivering professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians, and community members, embodying the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence.

Qualifications
Degrees
  • High School, Certificate, GED, Training, or Experience.
Additional Qualifications
  • For internal staff: At least 1 year of Patient Access experience with demonstrated ability to perform all functions within the Level 1 job description independently. Must meet or exceed BHSF registration accuracy and productivity standards for the past 6 months and exceed departmental KPIs. Must maintain a positive attitude, be self-motivated, and encourage others. Must be identified as a team player and cross-trained in multiple areas to substitute all staff positions as needed.
  • For external staff: Associate's Degree preferred with 1 year of Patient Access experience, or 2 years of experience in lieu of degree. Must complete and pass the Patient Access training course. Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and perform basic mathematical calculations. Must be detail-oriented, organized, compassionate, and possess excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines (HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, Medicare coverage, and medical necessity compliance) is desired. Understanding of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations/pre-certifications, Microsoft Office, EMR applications, and medical terminology is also preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish/Creole is a plus.
