Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator to assist the leader in planning, organizing, educating and implementing activities related to Patient Access core operations. The Coordinator manages daily workflow, tracks performance, coordinates staff scheduling, and serves as a key liaison among the team.

You will coordinate staff orientation, in-services, competencies, and ensure staffing levels to maximize efficiency.

Qualifications

  • The individual must be able to work the hours specified.
  • 1-3 years of revenue cycle experience (patient access, medical billing, insurance, collections).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate staff orientation, in-services, competencies, production, timeliness, quality, customer service, and efficiencies of Admission and Preadmission Representatives.
  • Coordinate scheduling process and maintain appropriate staffing levels to maximize department efficiency.
  • Demonstrate good communication, continual education updates, and cooperative working relationship with all departments, coworkers and promote a positive work environment.
  • Provide timely information to the Supervisor/Manager regarding the Patient Facing processes, staffing, customer service (all departments, patients and coworkers).
  • Monitor performance of staff, detect unsatisfactory trends/performance and deficiencies. Discuss needed performance improvement to staff as needed. Report information to the Supervisor/Manager.
  • Provide input and assist in development of operational policies and procedures and assist in disseminating information to staff. Develop, train and retain employees; planning, assigning and leading work; rewarding and coaching employees.
  • Ensure day-to-day workflow processes; identify workflow problems and recommend alternative solutions to problems. Monitor the quality and efficiency of the Patient Facing processes through auditing and key metrics.

A Brief Overview

Responsible to assist the leader to plan, organize, educate and implement activities related to the Patient Access core operations. The Coordinator has primary day-to- day responsibility of assuring workflow turnaround times are met, daily tracking of workflow, communication to the team, staff scheduling coordination, and special projects. The coordinator serves as a key liaison amongst the team.

Preferred Education, License/Certification, Or Work Experience
  • 1-3 years of revenue cycle (patient access, medical billing, insurance, collections) experience.
