Job Description - Patient Access Coordinator / Medical Asst - Harris Surgical Associates (7463-13069)

This position is for our office in Franklin, NC.

Job summary: Coordinates and engages in the day-to-day patient activities occurring in the front area of the medical clinic.

Essential Functions:

  1. Receives, screens, and routes visitors and telephone calls. Responds to, escalates, and follows up on inquiries and problems as appropriate.
  2. Registers patients, verifies data, and assists with completing forms. Obtains and updates demographic, billing, and third-party coverage information. Explains policies and procedures to patients, families, and visitors as needed. Performs these tasks efficiently with careful attention to detail with a minimal error rate.
  3. Maintains files and office equipment.
  4. Orders and stocks supplies.
  5. Schedules appointments in compliance with clinic policies and procedures, confirms appointments, and prepares/maintains medical records.
  6. Oversees the balancing of charges, receipts, and end-of-day procedures.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Required Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, and handle stressful environments appropriately.
  • Minimum Work Experience: Preferably two years of clerical experience in a medical clinic.
