Job description

Summary/Objective

The Patient Access Coordinator I is responsible for providing front desk support by greeting patients, managing check‑in/check‑out procedures, and entering information into the EMR. The Coordinator also handles payments, acts as a patient advocate and company representative, and demonstrates flexibility, cooperation, and support for the office staff.

Essential Functions
  • Greeting patients at check‑in and check‑out, entering demographic information and scanning data into the EMR.
  • Obtaining patient copays and other payments to post as needed.
  • Maintaining efficient and accurate multi‑communications made in the office.
  • Assuming the role of patient advocate and company representative.
  • Remaining a flexible, cooperative, and supportive member of the office staff.
Competencies
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Customer service orientation.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional medical office environment, utilizing standard office equipment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands include frequent mobility and/or sitting for extended periods; some bending, lifting, and stooping; full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye‑hand coordination; normal color perception and corrected visual acuity; manual dexterity to operate keyboard, calculator, and photocopier; involvement with coworkers, management, physicians, staff, hospital personnel, and patients; occasional high‑stress work requiring dealing with angry or demanding patients.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full‑time position, 8‑hour shift Monday through Friday; no weekends required.
