About the Role:

The Patient Access Coordinator functions as a point of contact and financial liaison for new patients. Their role is to perform an in-depth welcome call and aid patients in obtaining any available funding assistance for their treatment, arranging payment plans, and ensuring our patients have access to critically important medication therapy.

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience/Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • One year of healthcare experience or customer service experience
  • Proficient at partner programs (i.e.: MS Outlook, Word,Excel).
  • Ability to cope with ambiguous, changing environment while under pressure in a calmmanner.
  • Must be able to work as a team member and develop productive and cooperative working relationships with all members of the Palmetto Infusion team.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides timely acceptance and completion of new referrals.
  • Accurately calculates and quotes patient pay responsibility through coordination of benefits, evaluating copay structures, and completing a comprehensive insurance benefits summary.
  • Performs in-depth welcome call to new patients.
  • Assists with obtaining financial hardship information for evaluation.
  • Utilizes the EMR software exclusively for the purposes of communicating and documenting patient information.
  • Evaluates new patients that have outstanding balances from previous service and compliance with payment arrangements.
  • Enrolls patients in copay assistance and foundation grants, at the start of care.
  • Participates in the orientation of other staff as requested.
  • Takes initiative to present ideas and suggestions for process improvements to the team lead, supervisors, and management.
  • Maintain knowledge and proficiency in medical practices through continuing education, staff meetings, and workshops.

There may be prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding in transport vehicles. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with patients, vendors, and staff.
