Job summary

MaineHealth is hiring a Patient Service Specialist-Access Center in Westbrook, ME. You will be the first contact for adults seeking primary care, guiding them through establishing care and ensuring timely access to providers. You will leverage scheduling technology to improve access and user experience.

This role emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered service and coordination with care teams to deliver a seamless patient journey. Prior experience in healthcare scheduling or EHR is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Welcome new patients and provide a welcoming first interaction through their initial appointment.
• Guide patients through the new patient process and set clear expectations.
• Schedule new patient appointments accurately and match patients with the right provider.
• Use scheduling tech, including ticket scheduling and auto-dialer workflows, to improve access.
• Manage appointment requests by proactive queue/work and outreach to connect patients with available slots.
• Coordinate follow-up appointments for transitions from inpatient to outpatient care.
• Answer inbound calls, assist with scheduling, add to waitlists, respond to queries.
• Document patient interactions and scheduling activities in the EHR.
• Collaborate with providers and care teams to ensure timely access and a positive patient experience.
