Description:

The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating patient flow, ensuring timely processing, maintaining knowledge and deployment of practices used within the department/physician practice/hospital to address patient questions or concerns. This includes maintaining knowledge of insurance requirements, Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF) pricing, financial assistance options, and overall BHSF Revenue Cycle operations. The role involves supporting go-lives and departmental initiatives, including onboarding and training team members. Participation in departmental committees and champion opportunities is also expected. The position practices the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence by providing professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians, and community members.

Qualifications:

Degrees:

  • High School, Certification, GED, Training, Experience

Additional Qualifications:

  • For internal staff: A minimum of 1 year Patient Access experience and demonstrated ability to perform all functions within the Level 1 job description independently.
  • Meet or exceed BHSF registration accuracy and productivity standards for at least the most recent 6 months.
  • Exceed departmental KPIs.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, be self-motivated, and encourage others.
  • Be identified as a team player and cross-trained in multiple areas/product lines/practices to substitute all staff positions as needed.
  • For external staff: Associate’s Degree preferred with 1 year Patient Access experience, or 2 years experience in lieu of degree.
  • Complete and pass the Patient Access training course.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Be detail-oriented, organized, a team player, compassionate, with excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Desired: Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines including HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage, including medical necessity compliance.
  • Understanding of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations/pre-certifications, Microsoft Office, and EMR applications.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish/Creole preferred.
