Job summary

Care New England is seeking a Patient Access Associate to register patients for most outpatient and inpatient services, and to accurately record demographic, physician and insurance information.

You will complete preliminary registration and admission paperwork, coordinate room and bed assignments, provide clerical support, protect patient confidentiality, and help the department meet its goals through reliable service and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required.
  • Associates degree preferred or at least two years in health care.
  • Knowledge of third party payers preferred.
  • Excellent typing skills and ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal and English communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and office software.

  • Obtains patient financial information to ensure payment for hospital services.
  • Assigns bed and room accommodations.

Job description

Job Summary

The Patient Access Associate receives, processes, and registers patients entering the hospital for most outpatient and inpatient services. Requests and accurately records required patient demographic, physician and insurance relatedinformation. Secures pre-registration patient data for Diagnostic Imaging
Services as well as all direct admissions to the hospital. Completes preliminary registration and admission related paperwork. Coordinates and assigns room and bed accommodations. Provides clerical support to the department as needed, and performs other job-related tasks as directed.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Registers patients entering the hospital for most outpatient and inpatient services, including pre-registrations for Diagnostic Imaging Services as well as direct admits tothe hospital.
  • Completes all necessary forms and procedures for registration/admission process.
  • Obtains patient financial information to ensure proper payment of hospital serviceprovided.
  • Assigns bed and room accommodations.
  • Provides clerical support to the department as needed.
  • Protects and preserves patient rights to confidentiality.
  • Participates in functions to achieve overall department goals and objectives.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or directed.
Requirements

High School diploma required; Associates degree preferred or at least two years equivalent experience in a health care environment. Knowledge of third party payers preferred. Excellent typing skills and ability to operate standard office equipment necessary. Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills and beproficient in the English language. Knowledge of medical terminology, word processing, statistical tools such as Lotus 1-2-3 and other computer applications preferred.
