Job summary

Hillsboro Medical Center is seeking an Admitting Representative to welcome patients, guide them through registration and insurance processes, and ensure accurate demographic data. The role includes collecting co-pays and deposits, and supporting seamless care transitions in a busy setting.

Training on day shifts for 6–8 weeks precedes per diem scheduling. Ideal candidates have 6 months in a medical office or 1 year in high-volume public contact, with EMR experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of work experience in a medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact, or one (1) year of work experience in a high-volume direct public contact position.
• Previous Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience (preferred).
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) (preferred).
• Bilingual skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Accurately completes compliance documentation for patient admissions as required according to patient service, payer requirements and hospital policy.
• Obtains signatures on applicable registration documentation.
• Registers according to physician’s orders.
• Maintains equipment and reports failure promptly to facilitate repairs.
• Scans insurance card(s) and picture ID of each patient into the account.
• Verifies insurance using electronic insurance verification systems.
• Responds to customer needs in person and over the telephone in a courteous and constructive manner.
