Isle Royale National Park is managed by the National Park Service. Our mission is to conserve the scenery, natural and historic resources, including wildlife, and to help others enjoy these places for future generations.

ØThis is a Pathways Student Intern Position. Eligibility requires enrollment in an educational institution and submission of necessary documentation.
HOURS
ØWork is 40 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts from June to mid-September are expected to be 5-4-9 shifts with a 30-minute meal break. Spring, fall, and winter shifts are variable. Part-time hours (5-10 hours a week) are available around school schedules. Some work can be done remotely, but in-person presence is required.
WORK LOCATION
ØPosition based at the Houghton Visitor Center in Houghton, MI, serving as the mainland headquarters and ferry disembarkation point for the NPS ferry, Ranger III. The position is not on Isle Royale, which is 74 miles away, and staff may only visit the island briefly during the season.
DUTIES
ØWork at the Houghton Visitor Center, assisting visitors with questions, trip planning, and park education.
HOUSING
ØPark housing is not provided. Residents must arrange their own accommodations in Houghton or Hancock, which are small towns with amenities supporting two universities. Typical rent ranges from $400 to $700 per month.
UNIFORM / APPEARANCE
ØUniforms are required, and standards must be followed.

ØArrive on time and complete duties conscientiously.
ØProvide excellent customer service with professionalism and courtesy.
ØLearn about the park, share knowledge enthusiastically, and ask questions.
ØCollaborate effectively with staff, partners, volunteers, and community members.
