The pathology support specialist II works in coordination with advanced practitioners performing bone marrow procedures in specialized clinics at various locations throughout the practice as well as their supporting medical assistants. They will collaborate with multiple internal departments regarding the review of pathology test orders and bone marrow procedures placed in the EMR to ensure they contain the required information for the proper collection of specimens and submission to the laboratory. They will ensure insurance authorization is in place prior to the subsequent scheduling of procedures and patients.

High School diploma or equivalent
Three (3) years of experience in a healthcare field, clinical or laboratory setting is required. Three (3) years of experience demonstrating insurance knowledge, understanding of medical terminology knowledge required (Pathology terminology preferred). Patient scheduling experience preferred. Lab Information System and Electronic Medical Record experience preferred.

Highly organized and detail oriented Excellent organizational and cross-functional team participation skills Work independently and prioritize effectively. Possess moderate to high level computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Outlook and Adobe Reader. Solid time management with the ability to prioritize multi-task Must be comfortable being customer service focused with a commitment to provide timely responses Ability to work effectively and professionally in stressful situations Ability to collaborate across various levels of management, departments and teams.
