Pathology Regional Sales Director, Oncology Sales (East)

The Pathology Regional Sales Director (RSD) is responsible for leading, coaching, and developing a team of Account Executives and Account Managers to meet and exceed business objectives. The RSD leads the implementation of regional strategies for the promoted product line. Customers include office-based physicians, medical directors, and key medical and nursing personnel. Responsibilities include hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and coaching on account targeting, collaboration, and coverage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Drive strategic business expansion and collaboration with major U.S. cancer centers, clinics, Key Opinion Leaders, and Academic Medical Centers within the region.
  2. Develop detailed strategic plans for gaining and retaining clients.
  3. Hire, lead, coach, and manage the performance of a team of Account Executives and Account Managers.
  4. Implement laboratory services agreements (LSAs) with bill account institutions.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure successful attainment of company goals.
  6. Identify and develop partnership opportunities with prospective oncology clients and GHI.
  7. Promote and drive compliance with web-based molecular information tools.
  8. Analyze the competitive landscape within assigned accounts and provide feedback to leadership.
  9. Monitor sales performance to ensure objectives are met.
  10. Develop and execute a comprehensive business plan for the territory, including budgets, travel, and goal setting.
  11. Represent Guardant Health's culture to internal and external stakeholders.
  12. Travel frequently (>50%) within the territory as needed.

Requirements:

  1. At least 2 years of leadership experience with a track record of results and high-performing team culture, or completion of Leadership Development curriculum.
  2. 3+ years of competitive sales experience in healthcare (diagnostic, pharmaceuticals, medical devices) with proven performance.
  3. Experience leading or influencing teams to meet business objectives.
  4. Ability to motivate and lead while supporting a culture of performance, positivity, integrity, inclusion, teamwork, and respect.
  5. Strong analytical, strategic, and tactical planning skills.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  8. Positive attitude and adaptability to organizational growth and change.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  10. Ability to build cross-functional relationships and work independently.
  11. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  12. Effective administrative skills for managing complex environments.
  13. Demonstration of GHI's values: integrity, respect, and trust.

Preferred:

  1. Reside within or near the region (within 50 miles).
  2. 5+ years of account management experience in molecular diagnostics, with a history of exceeding expectations.
  3. Experience working with major cancer centers, oncology GPOs, large health systems, and oncology practices.
  4. Proven ability to engage and negotiate with customers at all levels, including executives.
  5. Understanding of payor and reimbursement environments in oncology and diagnostics.
  6. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
  7. Strong knowledge of market, customer, distribution, and product landscape.
  8. Experience leading strategic sales account plans.
  9. Regular use of Salesforce.com.

Education: Bachelor's degree in life sciences or biology preferred.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $179,200 to $241,920, excluding benefits, bonuses, commissions, or equity. Salary is determined by location, skills, experience, and education. The role may require lifting routine supplies and working in an office environment with potential exposure to biohazards.
