Job Title: Centrum Ischemia Technician

Summit Pathology is seeking an enthusiastic team player to join our fast-paced, growing pathology company as a Centrum Ischemia Technician. This role involves assisting with the handling of breast specimens at Centrum Surgical Center in Greenwood Village, CO. It is a non-benefited, part-time, on-site position required for breast excisions and frozen sections. Initial training will be conducted in Northern Colorado. For current Summit Pathology employees, these duties may be added to your existing role with managerial approval.

The position will be posted until filled. As a technician, you will collaborate closely with pathologists, assistants, hospital staff, and Centrum Surgery Center personnel.

Summit Pathology is an independent laboratory owned by board-certified pathologists, serving Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska for over 35 years. We offer expertise in various subspecialties including breast pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology, and more, providing high-quality diagnostic services and customer care.

Work Schedule

Breast surgeries are scheduled on Mondays and Fridays, from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with potential changes due to holidays and surgeon scheduling.

Compensation

• Pay range: $21-$23/hour
• Employees already at Summit Pathology will receive a $2/hr increase upon completing breast handling and frozen section training.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Assess specimen quality, make corrections, and prepare breast specimens for transport, grossing, and processing.
• Ink and slice breast excision specimens to meet CAP cold ischemia time standards.
• Assist with frozen specimens, including training on cutting frozen sections.
• Maintain cryostat and laboratory cleanliness, organize the pathology room, and assist with tumor board preparations and accreditation inspections.
• Demonstrate professional behavior, maintain patient confidentiality, and work cooperatively with the team.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in a chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology, or equivalent training and experience.
• Laboratory training, preferably including grossing of pathology specimens.
• Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Ability to work independently, problem-solve, organize, and maintain confidentiality.
