Job summary

Southeast Health in Alabama seeks an administrative specialist for the Histology department. Under the Histology Supervisor, you will handle pathology transcription, billing, coding, and maintain documentation within the Pathology Information Systems.

You will coordinate workload with technical staff and offsite transcriptionists, use office systems, and contribute to the efficient operation of the administrative office of the laboratory services.

Qualifications

• High school equivalent with strong computer/word processing skills and knowledge of medical terminology.

Job Description Summary Under the general supervision of the Histology Supervisor, is responsible for Pathology transcription, billing/coding, updating Pathology Information Systems, reports, sendouts and coordinating workload with the technical staff as well as the offsite transcriptionists. In addition, this position will utilize knowledge of office systems and procedures to maintain the efficient operation of the administrative office of the laboratory services department.

Job Description Minimum Education Equivalent of four years of high school with good computer/word processing skills, knowledge of medical terminology.

Minimum Work Experience Minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare setting with knowledge of histology/pathology terminology.
