Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a Pathologists' Assistant to join the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. You will perform gross examination and sampling of a broad range of surgical pathology specimens and collaborate closely with pathologists and residents in a dynamic academic setting.

You will also teach and mentor residents, contribute to education and laboratory practice, and participate in quality improvement initiatives, working with a team of histology staff and OR

Qualifications

Perform gross examination, description, dissection, and sampling of surgical pathology specimens.
Evaluate tissue for intraoperative consultation and frozen section with pathologists.
Photograph and document gross specimens with accurate orientation and submission.
Teach and mentor pathology residents and learners in grossing and technique.
Collaborate with pathologists, residents, histology staff, OR personnel, and leadership.

Responsibilities

Work with subspecialty pathologists and residents in a busy academic setting.
Participate in quality improvement, procedure development, and validation projects.
Contribute to education and laboratory practice in surgical pathology.
