Job summary

Inova Health seeks a Pathologists Assistant for a full-time day shift at Inova Fairfax Hospital. You will work Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, supporting pathology workflows and specimen preparation.

The role involves processing specimens, assisting with frozen sections, and coordinating with pathologists. Eligible candidates meet CAP education requirements and have CAP-approved training, with opportunities for professional growth within Inova.

Qualifications

CAP requirements include 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution.
24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science with chemistry/biology and related lab topics.
Three months of experience with laboratory training approved by CAP/ABHES/NAACLS or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Processes pathology specimens with correct specimen identification and records.
Dissects and prepares surgical specimens; maintains grossing stations for quality prep.
Assists with and performs frozen sections and handles tissue submission for testing.
Assists in postmortem examinations as needed.
Obtains clinical history from imaging and lab data after consulting the Pathologist.
Engages in professional growth while performing admin and teaching duties when required.
Adheres to CAP education/training requirements and ongoing competency checks.
