Responsibilities

• Assists pathologists and residents in gross examination of surgical specimens and autopsies.
• Dictates gross descriptions including color, weight, measurements and abnormalities.
• Performs dissection and proper submission of tissue for microscopic examination.
• Performs special techniques (frozen sections, cytogenetics prep, flow cytometry, etc.).
• Provides coverage to postmortem unit and participates in research as needed.
• Trains pathology residents and histologists in grossing and techniques.
