GW MFA is seeking a Pathologist’s Assistant to support anatomic pathology services under the supervision of an attending pathologist in the Cedar Hill Hospital project opening April 2025.

The role involves gross dissection, tissue description, specimen submission for processing, and preparation for intraoperative consultations, autopsies, and educational activities, with compliance to CLIA/CAP/TJC/DC DOH standards.

Formación

• Must be enrolled in, or have graduated from, a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant training program for a Master of Science degree.
• If you are a physician, must have graduated from an ACGME-accredited Anatomic Pathology residency program.

Responsabilidades

• Perform gross dissection, description, and submission of tissue specimens for histologic processing and surgical pathology examination.
• Provide a detailed and accurate description of tissue specimens using an electronic dictation system.
• Perform gross dissection, description, and preparation of tissue specimens for intraoperative consultation/frozen section examination, including preparation of cryostat sections and smears/imprints and staining of slides for microscopic examination.
• Prepare and submit tissue and other specimens for special laboratory studies, including flow cytometric and molecular analyses.
• Dissect and examine organs and tissues during autopsy examinations.
• Prepare for autopsy by obtaining medical records and arranging radiographic examinations.
• Perform gross and microscopic photography of specimens.
• Teach pathology residents in gross tissue dissection and description techniques, intraoperative consultation, and autopsy dissections.
• Assist in the preparation of materials for educational conferences.
