Job description

PathGroup is seeking an AP/CP Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Pathologist to join a thriving, high-volume practice serving two premier hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. This full-time position is based in Plano, TX, offering a mix of surgical and cytopathology cases in a collaborative environment with an established and respected team.

We are seeking a strong general surgical pathologist who thrives in a busy, collaborative environment and values quality, efficiency, and collegiality. Candidates with subspecialty interest or experience in breast, GI/liver, head and neck pathology, or cytology are especially encouraged to apply.

The practice currently includes three pathologists with diverse subspecialty expertise (including breast, GI/liver, and neuropathology). Due to the planned departure of one pathologist, the team is seeking to fill the fourth full-time position to maintain balanced case volume and the group’s long-standing tradition of excellence in diagnostic service.

Practice Overview
  • Each pathologist signs out approximately 4,000-6,000 cases annually, covering a diverse and complex surgical mix.
  • Heavy breast, GI/liver, head and neck, and cytology workload, with additional coverage of melanoma, neuropathology, and general surgical pathology.
  • The site operates on a fully digital workflow. All surgical pathology is digitized; cytology conversion is in progress.
  • Call is shared evenly, one week per month (1:4 rotation).
  • The group maintains five on-site pathology offices conveniently located adjacent to the main hospital. Occasional remote flexibility is available; many team members periodically sign out cases from home.
  • High-performing yet collegial group known for exceptional collaboration, clinical quality, and close working relationships with surgeons and hospital leadership.
About the Practice

This longstanding practice opened the hospital’s pathology department in 2004 and has been integral to its growth and success over the past 21 years. The current Laboratory Medical Director and senior partners are highly respected within this reputable healthcare system. The practice continues to expand with hospital growth, driven by a rapidly increasing patient population and procedural volume.

  • Located just north of Dallas, Plano is one of the fastest-growing and most desirable suburbs in the country, combining excellent schools, master-planned communities, and a thriving business climate.
  • The area offers no state income tax, a healthy economy, and a high quality of life, attracting families and professionals relocating from across the U.S.
  • Physicians here enjoy close-knit medical relationships and a professional environment supported by exceptional surgeons and hospital staff.
