Job summary

A healthcare diagnostics provider in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Surgical Pathologist / Cytopathologist to join their team. The primary responsibilities include diagnostic evaluation of surgical pathology cases and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Candidates must have a Medical Degree, be a licensed Physician in AL & GA, and have Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology. Qualifications

  • AL & GA Licensed Physician with Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology.
  • Must be eligible to obtain LA, MS, TN & FL state medical licenses.
  • Experience in a high volume laboratory setting is desirable.
  • Board Certification in Cytopathology is highly desired.
  • Subspecialty training or experience in Breast or GI Pathology is a plus.
  • Experience in gynecologic pathology is highly desired.
  • Previous experience working in a high volume laboratory setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Individual diagnostic evaluation and sign-out of surgical pathology and cytology cases.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and safety guidelines.
  • Provide expert consultation as needed with clients and staff.
  • Assures good laboratory practice (GLP) and compliance with applicable accrediting and regulatory agencies
  • Provide expert consultation as needed with clients and staff, in person, by phone or electronically

Skills

Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology
Board Certification in Cytopathology
Experience in gynecologic pathology
Subspecialty training in Breast Pathology
Previous experience in high volume laboratory

Education

Job description

Labcorp Diagnostics Southeast Division is seeking a Surgical Pathologist / Cytopathologist to join their team located in Birmingham, AL.

The Birmingham laboratory provides core clinical laboratory testing 365 days a year, for Healthcare Providers throughout Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Florida with point-of-care testing in many patient service centers. In addition to the Pathology service, the clinical testing areas in the Core Birmingham laboratory are Chemistry, Hematology, Serology, Flow Cytometry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Molecular microbiology.

Candidates with experience as well as those currently or recently completing fellowship training are encouraged to apply.

Schedule:

The work schedule for this position will generally be Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

Job Responsibilities

  • Accurate and timely evaluation of specimens tested
  • Assures good laboratory practice (GLP) and compliance with applicable accrediting and regulatory agencies
  • Provide expert consultation as needed with clients and staff, in person, by phone or electronically
Job Qualifications
  • Medical Degree from an accredited college/university
  • AL & GA Licensed Physician with Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic & Clinical Pathology
  • Must be eligible to obtain LA, MS, TN & FL state medical licenses
  • Board Certification in Cytopathology is highly desired
  • Subspecialty training or experience in Breast or Gastointestinal Pathology is a plus
  • Experience in gynecologic pathology is highly desired
  • Previous experience working in a high volume laboratory setting is desirable
