Job Title: Patent Counsel (Electrical Engineering)
Job Location: Saint Louis, MO

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced Patent Counsel with a strong background in electrical engineering to join their team. The role requires expertise in patent prosecution for technologies including 5G, Wi-Fi, artificial intelligence, and wireless communications. Ideal candidates will have a robust portfolio of work and be prepared to engage in impactful legal matters while contributing to the growth of the firm's practice.

Duties:

  • Oversee patent prosecution for advanced technologies such as 5G, Wi-Fi, artificial intelligence (AI), processor and memory systems, image processing, and RF front-end.
  • Work closely with clients to develop and manage intellectual property portfolios.
  • Prepare and file patent applications, respond to office actions, and handle all stages of the patent lifecycle.
  • Provide strategic patent advice and analysis, including freedom-to-operate and patentability assessments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure patent strategies align with business goals.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Experience in electrical engineering and technologies like 5G, Wi-Fi, AI, processor/memory systems, and wireless communications.
  • Must be registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or eligible to register.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and meet deadlines.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.

Certifications:

  • Registered with the USPTO, or eligible to register for the USPTO.

Skills:

  • Deep technical knowledge in wireless technologies, AI, processor systems, and RF front-end.
  • Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in drafting patent applications and legal documents.
  • Ability to engage directly with clients and manage patent portfolios.
  • Familiarity with autonomous vehicles, robotics, or computer vision technologies is a plus.
